My Birdies Are Back!

What a sight for sore eyes!
This Spring I had very few birdie buddies in my backyard
For the life of me I couldn't figure out what difference there was from all the other Springs :?
BandT had given me this sweet dragonfly bird feeder
for Christmas and there is sat full, with no takers.
Then I realized I had Crows in my backyard!
They usually stay in the street and
front trees in the front of the house.
Why they had decided after 18 years to
venture to my backyard if beyond me.
Luckily Blue Jays showed up and chased them off.
Then the Mocking birds showed up and chased the Blue Jays away....after all they weren't going to let them get THEIR fruit!
Now the only problem is, instead of the Mocking birds singing their lovely mocking songs, they've picked up the Blue Jay song, er rather squawk. It reminds me of camping, but this year 2 pair have shown up and taken over the backyard.

Again my bird feeder sits without visitors.
I know once all the fruit is gone the Jays will move on.
I'm hoping my Finches and Sparrows return at that time.

I enjoyed them for that short period they visited and hope they return soon.

Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar Reveiw and Giveaway

This may seem like an odd product to review, especially since it can be considered a sort of "dated" product in this age of sprays, gels, and technology.  But after still being around for 100 years, this proves to be a tried and true stain removal method. I love the old time wrapper too.

Purex Fels-Naptha is a solid laundry bar soap that fights oily, greasy, and perspiration stains, dirt, ring around the collar and much, much more.
This bar works very similar in the same way that you would pre-treat laundry stains with sprays, etc.

Unbeknownst to me I dripped something on my pink tank top :(
And wouldn't you know I had several stops to make that day!

I wet the stain and the Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar.
Rubbed into stain, which made a sort of lather.

Started the washer and tossed in my load of laundry.
I added my tank top, that was pretreated, in last.
This allowed the Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar
a few minutes to work it's magic.

This was the first time I've used this bar as a pretreatment for stains. I do, however, use it as an ingredient in my homemade laundry detergent and love it.

Before
After

Yay, just like new!
Here's a few more uses for
Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar .

Homemade laundry detergent
3 bars Fels Naptha, grated
1 box Borax
1 box Washing Soda
1 box Baking Soda
2 containers of  oxygen bleach (Oxyclean or off brand)
1-2 containers of  Purex Fabric Softener Crystals
Mix all together and use 2 Tablespoons per load

Clean Your Shower/Tub and Sink
Rub a wet bar of  Purex Fels-Naptha on a sponge and wipe down the bathtub/shower. Rinse.

Dish Soap
To make your own, dissolve 1 part Purex Fels-Naptha
 in 2 parts water.

Hands
To remove grease or ink wash with
 Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar

Poison Ivy Prevention and/or Treatment
If you think you have been exposed to poison ivy, oak or sumac, shower immediately with Purex Fels-Naptha to remove the resin from your skin, and it will help to dry up the rash, as well. This will greatly reduce and in most cases prevent any skin reaction to the poison ivy oil. Make sure to launder your clothes in some grated Purex Fels-Naptha to remove the resin from your clothes. Poison ivy resin can stay on your clothes for over 1 year even if the clothes have been washed with normal detergent.

Cold/Fever Blisters
To dry up, was affected area with
Purex Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar and rinse.

Huey Lewis and The News!

Last week M,T,C and a friend went to
the County Fair to see none other
than Huey Lewis and The News!
Yes, some of the photos are blurry but it's hard to take good photos in the middle of a packed house, or in this case, stage seating.

I don't need to tell you they had a great time
singing along with their hits like:
''The Power Of Love''
 ''Workin' for a Livin' ''
"If This Is It"
''The Heart Of Rock and Roll''
''Doing It All For My Baby''
as well as a couple of their new songs.
J and T
C and M
C was very disappointed,

they didn't sing ''I Want a New Drug''.
Aw well, maybe next time ;)

 And wouldn't you know,
you can't go many places and
not see my maiden name "Avila".
Here we have "Avila Spreading Service" !

Gotta love us Portugees!

Purex Fabric Softener Dryer Sheets Reveiw and Giveaway

As a Purex Insider I get the opportunity to try new products that are released from companies you already love and purchase from.
I've recently tried out a new Purex product!
I was so excited to receive their
New Improved Purex Fabric Softener Dryer Sheets
with improved  3X the fragrance formula!
Exactly what does the 3X mean?
It means not only have they improved the formula to include 3 times the amount of fragrance which makes their scent last 3 times longer than their old Fabric Softener Sheets.
The new Sheets also have more Static Cling Reduction
which repels not only lint BUT repels Pet Hair too!
From a home with 3 cats and 2 dogs.....
Can I get a Woo Hoo?!!

Available in 2 scents:

Mountain Breeze

Sweet Lavender

I received the Mountain Breeze to test.

Boy did it smell great after sitting in the mailbox in the hot Sun!
But it smelled just as great the next morning when I started my laundry. We've had such hot temperatures here lately I had been hanging my laundry on the line outside to try to compensate for using the Air Conditioner.
BUT now I had a real reason not to have to go out and hang that laundry! I mean I just had to try out these new fab dryer sheets!
My laundry came out smelling so fresh and feeling so soft.
The scent was most pleasant.
Now I know some of you have allergies or prefer a no fragrance sheet and these scents can cause issues.
But for those of us who l♥ve fragrance (the more the better)
 these are the bomb!
If you prefer a lighter milder scent you could always
cut these in half or even quarters.
The New Improved Purex Fabric Softener Dryer Sheets
have more uses than just in the dryer.
Try them in your gym shoes, under the seat in your car,
in your linen closet, tucked in the cushions of your sofa,
anywhere you'd like a scent of freshness!
I even put one up in with the new AC filter
and a quarter of one in my vacuum cleaner.
As I vacuumed throughout the house I spread
a lovely scent instead of that vacuum cleaner smell.
Now you know what those sweet people at Purex did?
They sent along 3 coupons for a free box of Purex Fabric Softener Dryer Sheets to pass on to you!
So here we go!

Free Purex Dryer Sheet Coupon

As I'm sure you all can attest to --- time flies!
Whether you having fun or not
We recently celebrated Brandon's and Tanya's 2nd Anniversary!!
I know unbelievable right!
Weren't we just trying dresses on yesterday?
Boy, do I need to wake up and smell drink the coffee!!
Real bad!

Anywhoo, we all went to Texas Roadhouse
the celebratory dinner.

OMG, the rolls where so darn good!! Who needed a menu??
Just gimme more of them cinnamon dough rolls!

What a fun place.
Peanuts everywhere to munch on
and you tossed the shells on the floor,
yep my kind of place.

 Decisions, decisions.
What to choose to eat,
everything looked SOO good!

***End of roll***

LOL
Remember when we had to change rolls of
 film because you ran out?
Thank goodness we don't have to do that anymore.

The food showed up and we all chowed down,
including yours truly.

All I can say is we walked,
er rolled out of there stuffed
along with two huge doggie yummy leftover bags!

Happy Anniversary Brandon and Tanya!!

The Fairy Walk

This is something I've been working on for a couple years...
yes I'm slow at times to finish a project, but eventually I will!
The sign was an old wood arrow I found at the farm,
let's see, probably about 3-4 yrs. ago.
I knew what I wanted to do with it,
it just took time ;)

This path is actually the one that leads to
the Tortoise's Summer pen.
But since it's the most shaded area I have, I
knew I wanted my Fairy Gardens there.
All along this path there are hints of Fairyland here and there.
I made this Fairy Door out of scrap wood, added a tiny hinge, door knob, and a key shaped hole ''peep hole''.
An old brass footing I found at a sale years ago finally found a home on the peak of the roof.
A large ceramic Fairy stands along the side of the walk.

A cracked birdbath becomes a mini Fairy Garden.
The metal mesh arch was removed from
one of my Halloween projects
and made for a grand Sedum covered Arbor.
A Gnome guards the entrance,
while the Fairies frolic.
A ladder made from Willow branches
helps the Fairies up into their birdhouse home.
A crackle globe from a broken garden light
adds mystique as a ''crystal ball''.
The flat marble pathway are leftovers from B&T's Wedding.
The ''beach'' is also sand leftover from the Wedding.
The ''furniture'' comes from a Birthday cake
that was given to Cody and I.
A little rabbit from an Easter long passed, works the garden.
One of the Fairies sit by the ''pool'',
while another naps under a couple of ''toadstools''
I made from old bowls and vases.

Yes, I know I've mixed quite a few different groups here:
Gnomes, Fairies, and a crystal ball?

Well, that's just the way I like it.
It shows we all can coexist and be happy

Happy Gardening!!
